Hello fellow tradesmen and lovers of old stuff!
Our whole family has become involved in making old fashioned stuff. We grew up near Sturbridge Village in Massachusetts and Mystic Seaport in Connecticut. Most of our family lived in our 1820 brick farmhouse at one time or another and still in the family. Sewing, gardening, canning, building and creating. We have skilled tradesmen friends in Minnesota and around the country. We all like to teach and share our love of historical trades and crafts, come join us and share our love for the old stuff.
"Jack of all trades, master of none"... yet what would life be like if we did not try something new?
WOOD
Roger started out making Windsor chairs 40 years ago in Minnesota. He was also turning wooden bowls on power lathes. Soon he narrowed down his skills to historical Norweigen Ale Bowls on a foot powered pole lathe. He now has many foot and power lathes and side skills, spoon making and band heddles, but his favorite and best skill is those Norweigen Ale Bowls inspired by his grandparents from Norway.
For the past 30 years he has been honing his skill and teaching bowl turning at folk schools, and demonstrating at museums, fairs and schools around the country.
CLAY
Reggie has been potting for over 50 years! Starting in high school, she continued in college and started her own pottery company in 1988. She still makes Yellow Ware, specializing in Mocha patterns and red clay pots, but loves to demonstrate a variety of miniature pots using lots of different clays, glazes and styles, demonstrating and teaching at fairs and museums across the country.
FIBER
Our whole family has been into fibers forever! We grew up knitting, spinning and weaving, sewing and creating costumes and projects. The family has had sheep, angora rabbits, horses and goats, our friends have llamas. See our FIBER page foer latest creations.
Band weaving has become an important thing in our family. Teaching classes and demonstrating, Reggie has written a simplified book for begining weavers. We also have a family barn loom to make rugs. Our bands decorate bags, our homes have band tiebacks and rugs.
LEATHER
We dobble in leather too, always working on new projects. Check out our LEATHER page.
